Carefully unbox your Trezor device and ensure all components are present. Your package should include the Trezor device, USB cable, recovery seed cards, and lanyard.

- Keep all packaging materials for future reference
Connect to Trezor Suite
Download and install Trezor Suite, the official desktop application for managing your Trezor device. It provides a secure interface for all your cryptocurrency operations.
- Visit trezor.io/start from a secure computer
- Download Trezor Suite for your operating system
- Connect your Trezor via the provided USB cable
Initialize Your Device
Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device. You'll be guided through firmware installation and device initialization process.
- Install the latest firmware for optimal security
- Create a new wallet or recover an existing one
- Set up a PIN to protect physical access to your device
Backup Your Recovery Seed
This is the most critical security step. Your recovery seed is the only way to restore your funds if your Trezor is lost, stolen, or damaged.
- Write down the 12, 18, or 24-word recovery phrase
- Store it securely offline, away from digital devices
- Never share your recovery seed with anyone
Verify Your Backup
Trezor will prompt you to verify your recovery seed backup. This ensures you've correctly recorded the words and can restore your wallet if needed.
- Disconnect and reconnect your Trezor device
- Select "Recover wallet" from the menu
- Enter your recovery seed in the correct order
